If you’re a petrol head and are visiting the UK between September 18th and 20th, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this. Get your filthy fender over to the picturesque Bicester Heritage, in Oxfordshire, and bring your best pair of ride-spotting eyes.
Because 500 fabulous classic cars brought to life on the cinematic big screen, will feature in a COVID-compliant drive in experience of a lifetime.
2020 has been pretty harsh on everyone, not in the least petrol heads. We’ve had to ride the lockdown, making do with simulators and the like to get our driving fix.
Which is why the Classic Car Drive In Weekend is an occasion to celebrate, as Petrol Heads crawl out of their homes to marvel at 500 fan favourites.
With challenging times, comes great innovation. No pandemic can stand in the way of great ideas. And we’re so pleased that the award-winning team at Brand Events got their creative juices flowing to bring us this ground-breaking first-of-its-kind drive in dedicated to cars.
If you’ve never heard of them, they’re the brains behind events like The London Classic Car Show, Top Gear Live, CarFest and more.
For just £25 quid (£15 if you’re between 5 and 15), you’ll be treated to one of 18 drive in films, while savouring the sights and sounds of classic cars, live, bringing you the best combo since chocolate orange.
Just look at their lineup: speedacious car chases from The Italian Job, Gone in 60 Seconds (Eleanor!), Fast and Furious 7 and Baby Driver. That’s Petrol Head lite. They’re also screening Rush, Senna, Le Mans ‘66 and Days of Thunder. GT40 anyone?
And if you don’t want to go the whole 9 yards, there’s something for you too. Third-base costs £10 (£7.50 for children) and will grant you access to a film alone, without the fluff.
Bicester Heritage, located on the UK’s best-preserved WW2 RAF Bomber Station, is a significant motoring landmark in the UK, and home to the first Centre of Excellence for Historic Motoring. The venue is massive, 444 acres massive, with extensive outdoor space to suit the COVID times.
Just as well, because in addition to a memorable cinematic experience, there’ll be a full day of non-stop entertainment. This includes dynamic demo runs on a specially designed course on Bicester Heritage’s track, the chance to network with more than 25 leading car clubs in the UK and get your car bants on, and a live Bonhams MPH car auction hosted on-site. To think you could essentially walk away with a classic of your own!
This really is a welcome sight, especially since so many other important motoring events have been cancelled this year.
They’ll be restricting numbers to 10,000 to remain COVID-compliant, so I don’t know about you, but I’m rushing over to their website and registering myself £25 quid’s worth of non stop fun. Throw in another for the missus.
Register today, and you’ll get a 48-hour headstart to book a place on Wednesday 12th August. Pedal to the Metal!
