New MG Cyberster: world’s first pure electric supercar gaming cockpit!

There’s a lot of talk about the future of cars, with some brilliant concepts coming through innovation labs the world over. And iconic British motoring brand, MG, have entered the fray with the Cyberster concept car.

The Cyberster is a two-door, two-seater sports car reminiscent of the brand’s traditional aesthetic. It debuts between April 21 and 28 at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, targeted to a new generation of drivers.

It draws a number of styling cues from the classic MGB Roadster, with a modern twist. You can expect to see:

  • Classic round MG headlights
  • Slim grille design
  • Interactive ‘Magic Eye’ headlights that open when switched on
  • Lots of LED bells and whistles because…why not?

For the gamers?

We’re living in an age where online gaming has become a staple in modern socialisation. Whether you’re spending your allowance on the latest Star Wars character upgrade, or battling it out in Fortnite, it’s gaming galore on all fronts.

And MG are looking to weigh in on this gaming culture, promoting the Cyberster as “the world’s first pure electric supercar gaming cockpit.”

How?

Well, the interior is fitted with zero-gravity seats, a gaming console-like steering wheel – with a four-dimensional button on the thumb, and another on top of the steering wheel – as well as 5G connectivity. In other words, it looks like your everyday gaming cockpit.

Performance

If you’ve been sold on the whole gaming cockpit shebang, performance will probably be the last thing on your mind. But, just in case you’re interested, the Cyberster features an intelligent all-electric architecture with an EV range of 800km. And, it’s capable of breaching the 100km/h barrier in under 3 seconds.

The 5G connectivity isn’t just for gaming. It will facilitate a number of smart driving applications, from traffic speed control to parking, designed to optimise the driving experience, making it as easy for future drivers as possible.

For the masses?

Word from MG has it that its ambitions extend beyond the concept phase. It’s launching the ‘MG Cyber Cube’ – a demand-generating platform that will help determine the crowdfunding strategy releasing on April 19th.

While you’re waiting to cash in on the Cyberster, you can check out the current MG line-up in the UAE. It includes the bold and unforgettable MG ZS EV, the adventurous MG5 EV Sedan and the head-turning MG HS plug-in.
