Chevrolet SUV 2020 line-up: pick your personality

Which family brings together the quirkiest and most eclectic characters in animated cartoon history?

Boom. Le Simpsons.

First you have a crack pot with drinking problems – Homer. Then you have overprotective mother Marge. Followed by prankster Bart who relies on his resourceful sister Lisa. And the circle ends with a slightly mischievous Maggie.

One big happy family

The Chevrolet family is a bit like the Simpsons. Members of their family are unique and memorable too. You may recognize yourself in one of them.

Tahoe

Do you like em grilles?

The Tahoe is the Homer Simpson of the Chevy family. No, it does not have a criminal record (yet).

What it does have is sass in spades. And a deep history in the Middle East. Chevy Tahoe’s earned its recognition as movie star, member of the armed forces, and trusted bodyguard of the family.

Large and in charge, the Tahoe was voted “Most reliable large SUV” after receiving the lowest rate of reported problems among its large SUV peers. Okay, maybe not so Homer after all, although you’d be hard pressed to suggest that he doesn’t have his moments.

Equinox

Safe in Mamma Chevy’s hands

The Chevy Equinox will remind you of Marge: safe and overprotective. Like a mother.

In addition to the usual radars, sensors and camera-based tech, at launch the Equinox experimented with other safety tech such as Seat Alert, Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and Rear Seat Reminder for all-round 360 degree protection.

It’s no wonder this compact 2 Row SUV Crossover has been named Most Dependable Compact SUV 3 years in a row. Way to go Marge!

Blazer

Chariots a blazin’!

Enter the troublemaker of the family. Chevy Blazer and Bart Simpson have something in common. They both wanna stand out and attract attention. Lots of attention.

This sporty mid-sized trim comes with an optional 3.6L V6 married to a 9-speed automatic to give you 308 bhp to play with. Amp it up with an RS variant, and you can enjoy the Advanced Twin-Clutch system, giving more torque to your wheels. Sounds like Bart on a skateboard, ey?

Despite being playful in nature, the Chevy Blazer doesn’t lack in the smarts department, with an intelligent start/stop button to optimise fuel economy. Pretty easy on the wallet.

Traverse

Cruisin’ without a bruisin’ in the night

This Chevy Traverses (see what we did there) the bounds of normalcy, with some truly impressive tech featueres. You can rest assured that your pre-pubescent teenage daughter or son will remain safe with the Teen Driver Technology, which makes sure everyone’s buckled in before the flight by preventing the drivers from shifting up from Park for up to 20 seconds and muting all audio.

You can also keep tabs on your teen with an in-built report card that highlights any areas of concern with regards to their driving. Not that Lisa Simpson would have a problem with this, you can bet she’ll come home with an A++ on that report card too. A bright girl such as herself would certainly love all this tech, though.

Rear-view camera mirror, HD surround sound, the Traverse is kitted out with some neat gadgets and gizmos. Not to mention how incredibly spacious she is for a mid-sized SUV.

Captiva

One for the everyman

There is an itch to liken the Chevrolet Captiva to wee Maggie Simpson. You can appreciate their sheer practicality with touch of mischievousness. Neither of them complain and they both check all the boxes.

Being one of the most affordable in its class, the Captiva is a car for every household. Everyone wants one, everyone can have one, not a far cry from the adorable Maggie after all.

We’ve given you all the deets on the upcoming Captiva 2021 here.

Suburban

Hello, Grandpa Simpson. Suburban happens to be the oldest member of Chevrolet family with a rich 85 years history.

The Suburban even gets a Hollywood Star to cement its legacy

This is a large SUV, and very much hasn’t run out of steam, still leading the pack like any head of family.

If you’re retired and seeking adventure with the whole family, and the entire pantry to boot, this one’s definitely for you. The Suburban offers best-in-class second-row leg room, a newly expanded third row and so much cargo volume, you can pack your entire household into it for a long weekend away.

Leader of the pack

So that’s it! Which Chevrolet do you relate the most to? Do you favour sportiness over size? Is safety your main priority? Comment, and let us know!
