Okay, before you get too excited, Lambo’s hot new release is a track-only hypercar. Still, when you’ve got a machine that looks as good as the SCV12, you’re forgiven for having a heart-in-mouth moment.
Fitted with Lamborghini’s most powerful naturally aspirated V12 engine to date, this absolute beauty is capable of competing with the combined power of more than 830 ponies thanks to aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.
The SCV12 benefits from Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT motorsport expertise, drawing up on its racing experience to deliver increased aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 standard issue. The front bonnet has a double air intake and a central rib directing airflow to the ram-air intake scoop on the roof.
This increases static air pressure in the engine’s intake manifold, creating greater airflow through the engine, and, you guessed it, mo’ POWAH! A prominent splitter at the front, lateral flicks and vertical fins on the side sills and a custom-built carbon fibre rear wing further enhance this beast’s performance.
Squadra Corse engineers have also used their race car experience to develop other cool features, such as a new all-carbon-fibre chassis that greatly improves the power-to-weight ratio, handling and circuit driving experience.
A sequential six-speed gearbox, with system-installed pushrod rear suspension, complements the lightweight chassis and rear-wheel drive to further enhance weight distribution, while top-of-the-range Pirelli tires fitted on magnesium rims grant this Lambo its smooth, tarmac-kissing prowess.
Wondering how you can get in the cockpit and drive this baby around a circuit? You’ll have to become a member of a very exclusive club, where you’ll participate in advanced driving programmes at some of the world’s most prestigious circuits, with the squadra Corse engineers’ technical assistance and under five-time Le Mans winner, Emanuele Pirro’s tutelage.
Don’t know about you, but that’s certainly a great way to spend your summer.
