Okay, first things first, check this out:
That’s His Airness Michael “Money” Jordan, dunking his way to becoming the basketball GOAT, and rightfully taking his place in the highest echelons of sporting brilliance. And, basketball or not, we all want to be like Mike.
Well, as it turns out, you can actually be like Mike, albeit in a way that doesn’t require you to reach the pinnacle of NBA action. All you need to do is have some cash in hand, pop over to eBay and place your bid on this MJ sidepiece.
All about the rides
Okay, who didn’t binge on Netflix’s ten-part epic docuseries centred on Michael Jordan and the mighty 90s Chicago Bulls?
One thing you’ll notice off the bat from The Last Dance is Michael’s impressive lineup of fun cars. From the Porsche 911 Cabriolet Slant Nose he drives away in after winning a third championship with the Bulls to signing a young fan’s baseball from behind the wheel of a Chevy Corvette ZR-1, MJ loved his cars, and we loved MJ.
When I say fun, I mean fun. You’ll notice MJ tearing away from the Paparazzi in a customised W140 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser, after tossing the first pitch at a major-league baseball game. Just listen to how great it sounds:
Who are Lorinser?
Kind of like how BMW have got Alpina, Mercedes-Benz have got Lorinser. Master Mechanic, Erwin Lorinser, founded this specialist tuning company way back in 1930, and they’ve been fiddling with Mercedes rods since 1974.
Erwin’s grandson, Marcus, has been sitting at the company’s helm since 2006. Nowadays, Lorinser offers such products as a 300-Euro, easy-to-install, PowerModule for enhanced engine performance.
Concerning MJ’s S600, Lorinser treated it to 18-inch chrome monoblock wheels, a widebody kit, and custom dual exhaust. They didn’t, however, do any work on the powertrain itself. No need when the power comes from His Airness, hmm?
About the ride
MJ’s Green Black Metallic coupe cradles a 6.0L V12 engine, offering 389 horses and 420 lb-ft of torque. Exactly what MJ needed to get away from meddling Paps for 157,000 miles. Wonder what’s clocked more miles, actually; the S600 or Road Runner?
The S600 is currently listed at the Beverly Hills Car Club, and will be heading to eBay for auction.
Seriously, don’t miss out on the chance to own a piece of history. Yep, the car comes with a title that clearly shows Michael Jordan as the owner of the custom Benz. A total babe magnet if you ask me (you could be like Mike and do it in the same backseat).
