Q4 and Q4 Coupe: Audi’s new electric toys

Not those electric toys, please, even Audi hasn’t gone that far yet.

Do you remember the time Tesla introduced its first electric vehicle and everybody jokingly compared it to a golf cart?

Fast forward to 2020 and EVs are no laughing matter. Between global pollution, shrinking oil reserves, and stricter government sanctions on petrol vehicles, you might want to future-proof your next car purchase.

Lucky for you, Tesla is no longer the only provider, and competition keeps the prices affordable.

Introducing the Q4

Among the many brands pumping out EVs, Audi is turning up the heat in the competition with their recent line-up of Q4 compact SUVs and Q4 SUV Coupes.

Spot the difference?

Though nearly identical in size and underlying drive technology, those two models cater to different tastes.

The standard Q4 showcases robustness and versatility, while the Q4 Coupe places special emphasis on dynamic elegance.

Built for endurance

For those of you who go nuts about hour long battery charge-up times – a major flaw of most EVs nowadays – Audi has some good news. Charging your car’s battery to 80% takes no more than 30 minutes. Finally, some progress, Hallelujah!

That ass…

The new Q4 models also boast improved efficiency and claim to cover up to 500km in one go, practically sealing away any chance that you will end up stuck in the middle of nowhere.

In terms of core specs, both models accelerate to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds and reach max speeds of 180km/h.

Augment your reality

Another note-worthy feature is augmented reality, AR for short. If you thought it belongs only to video-games and apps, well, think again.

The AR on the new Q4 models will display information such as speed and directional signs right on your screen shield, kicking HUDs up a notch.

You can stop playing the game of cross-your-fingers-and-hope-for-the-best when you look up Google Maps on your phone as you drive. One less bill to pay for.

Don’t fancy the Q4? No problem

If the Q4 isn’t enough to catch your attention, then just wait. According to Audi, it plans to release up to 20 EVs by 2025, resulting in 40% of revenue flowing from the EV market.

Regardless of your stance towards Audi, that figure should impress you. And warn you. The world is moving away from petrol cars. Don’t get left behind. Although, if you do, you can be a part of our Petrolhead support group…
