Striking a mellow chord on a guitar, Ivie Sanders contemplates her 24 young years on the roller coaster of her sweet tin Utahn life, where lyricism and metal have come together in a unique combination of her two greatest passions: cars and music. Mikaniki accompanied her down memory lane as she took us through her journey to musical freedom.
I have been playing music my whole life, it’s my passion. I play gigs and entertain throughout Utah.
I don’t just play the guitar. I’m also self-taught on the piano and I sing a wide variety from the all new to the old school; I simply love all music and have loved it for as long as I can remember.
I have been through a lot in my 24 years of life and music has always been there for me. It’s my drug, my life.
My parents have been a massive influence; they’ve always supported me, watched and helped me grow in the industry. I lost my mom a couple of years ago and that has been a big motivator in my music.
When it comes to performing, I LOVE big crowds. The more people the better in my opinion. It’s a rush that just takes you over.
My most memorable performance would have to be my high school graduation. There were so many people in the stadium, it was like a sold-out concert. Looking up, I couldn’t even make out the people sitting at the very top!
I have always been into cars, especially fast ones, and I absolutely LOVE my Subaru. Of the many cars out there, Subaru is one of the most modifiable, from cosmetic to performance.
Another reason I chose this car is because if you have ever been to Utah in the winter, you know it dumps snow. The Subaru is fast, amazing in the snow and I honestly just think they are beautiful, aggressive looking cars.
Mine is a brand new custom ordered 2020 WRX STI. As of right now most of my modifications, other than my Invidia N1 Exhaust, have been cosmetic from tint, emblems, and tail light overlays, to third brake light, tow hook, and more. I believe building cars takes time, and is always an adventure, so stay tuned to see what is to come over the next few years.
My dream car would be a red 65-69 Mustang. I’m also thinking about building a jeep in the next couple of years and a Toyota Tacoma. In the long run I would love to have a white Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
While music and cars are at the top of my list, I’m also working towards a bachelor’s degree, which takes a ton of time. Other than that, I love to hike and be outdoors. Summer is, for sure, my season just as music and cars are my reason.
