The times are tough. The world is broken. People in isolation. Lockdowns, work from home, e-learning and social distancing have become the norm. But that shouldn’t mean we need to ignore our cars. They still need love! Let’s look into some car care tips when staying home, so your fuel-efficient buddy doesn’t feel neglected.
Assuming you have designated parking, the easiest thing you can do to show your car some love is to give it a wash yourself – inside and out.
It is also a great way to get active and keep yourself busy. It can be a tedious process and should keep you at it for hours.
You can order some basic supplies such as detailing products and microfiber cloth off most online grocery stores or at the nearest petrol station.
Batteries die. Period.
This is not news. So taking care of your car’s battery in times like these is important (if you want to save yourself some fuloos down the road).
The battery in your car is kept charged by the alternator in the engine. In times like these, thanks to curfews, lockdowns and quarantine, if you are not using the car at all, it is best to disconnect the terminals on the battery to avoid discharging.
In the event you do use your car for the occasional grocery runs or other emergencies, it is recommended to start your car at least once a week and keep it running for 15-20 minutes to charge your battery.
Birds love cars. They love it enough to defecate all over your expensive tool when you’re not looking. But this is a one sided relationship.
Bird feces can eat through your paint fairly quickly causing permanent damage to the paint. This can be an expensive fix and hence we recommend covering up your car when not in use.

You can buy car covers online at Amazon or other reputable online stores.
